I’m about to update so brace yourself… February 18, 2009

Something big has happened since I last updated… I withdrew from ASU!

You may be thinking to yourself: Why would Tana, the girl who worshipped school quit? What is she going to do now? Your questions are about to to be quelled.

First of all, this is not out of the blue. I have been seriously considering this option since November 2008. I thought that I should give myself another semester before I made my decision. After I started that semester, I knew for certain that this was not what I wanted out of life.

Secondly, it was not making me happy and it was distracting me from the things in my life that did make me happy. I sat down to consider what made me happy and I put them in the following order:

          1. Serving and drawing close to God, Jehovah

          2. Spending time with my family and friends

          3. My hobbies: Cooking, Baking, Dancing, Photography & Learning

School was prohibiting me from almost all of the above.

What am I going to do with my life?

Spiritually: I’m going to start regularly auxillary pioneering (going from house to house preaching about the Bible for a certain amount of committed time) in March. I want to help people who are searching for the truth from the Bible. I know that I have found that truth and I want to share it with anyone who is interested. I finally “made the truth my own!” James 4:8 says “Draw close to Jehovah and He will draw close to you.” I plan on achieving this as well as helping others to also through free home Bible studies.

 

Workwise: I have no idea yet but I want to pursue a career in one of my hobbies. Maybe I’ll go to culinary school or become a photographer! (I’m going to put my faith first for at least a year and then start working on my financial support. Matthew chapter 6 talks about how we need to stop being anxious over things in this world. If we put Jehovah first, he will provide all the other things we need.)

I can tell you all one thing for certain. I have been more happy in these few short weeks than I have ever been in my life! If you have any other questions, just let me know! I’ll answer them

The Results… November 13, 2008

So I did as well as I expected… I got a B on the exam but its ok because this exam will be dropped and I only missed one question on my first exam and none on my second exam so we’re in the clear! Yay! I’m going to get an A! I just need to remember to study for the final…

Exam Time… November 13, 2008

Yet again, I was faced with the decision to study all day and cram for my third chemistry exam or go to sleep. I chose sleep. I still feel super prepared for this test though because I can’t help but recall the information from the colorful powerpoints in lecture and the insanely motivated presentations given by the TA’s in recitation. As I sit here waiting for the test to begin, I laugh as I scan the room of SUPER STRESSED students who just barely rolled out of bed, somehow remembering that the exam was today…

I’m so busy!!!!!!!!!!! September 3, 2008

I can’t believe that I can be this busy all the time… One day its going to catch up to me but for now, I love it! I can’t stand being bored. I guess that’s why I put myself in so many classes and work and maintain a balanced social life. Sorry I haven’t posted anything new but since my last post only one thing is different…

I STARTED COLLEGE AT THE ONE AND ONLY ASU!!!! 

It is so much better than high school! I love my classes, the people I’ve met, the people who came along with me from Highland and all the good times college brings. I’m glad I love it because I’m looking at another SEVEN YEARS after this one…

I start my days pretty early at either 7:30 am or 8:00 am on Monday through Thursday and Friday I chill until class starts at 10:30 am. Most college students would complain with this schedule but I’m just like my dad… I’m able to run off 4 hours of sleep and a cup of coffee! (Btw if anyone wants to get me a gift go for the Dunkin Donuts gift card because that is what fuels my mornings! I’m glad I found the one on Stapley & Baseline!) I’m taking Calculus with Analytical Geometry III, Chemistry 113, ASU 101, a mandatory honors class for Barrett’s (AKA the honors college at ASU), Buried Cities & Lost Tribes, and Jazz II. I don’t think any of my classes will be too hard to handle but it is only the 2nd week of school so you never know…

I need a scooter because walking around the campus is killing my little body!!! lol

Graduation Sucked!!! May 28, 2008

I am so totally mortified… My graduation class was the only class in the history of Highland to get rained out!!! We’re in the valley of Arizona and my graduation gets rained out!? It was so insane! I worked so hard for it and not one of my family members or friends was allowed to watch me graduate live… The ceremony was moved into the auditorium and because there were 667 graduates, there was no room for the friends and family. They were all herded into the main hall and classrooms to watch the ceremony broadcasted on the TVs. It was utterly disappointing and I want to cry. That was my day and it sucked. It would be the kid who is in love with school who’s graduation gets rained on…

I looked really good though and my hair didn’t go flat even in the rain! At the after party, I got a new lap top and a huge Betsy Johnson luggage bag along with a ton of cash and a graduation Barbie doll. My gag gifts included lotion (my biggest annoyance!!! I hate lotion of all sorts!!!) and a disposable camera in a digital camera box… Nicki and Javan, you owe me a really good gift at my real party! lol

 

Dum Da Da Dum!!! May 16, 2008

You’ve been waiting and here they are!!! My senior pictures!!! Thanks Kelly  Leslie for the photography! The shoot went amazing! We went to Mill Avenue and found some amazing locations. Tessa went along with me as my stylist and I can’t wait to go on her senior shoot next year and be her stylist! Thank you Tessa! While I’m in such a thanking mood, I have to thank Megan too because she postponed her camping trip by four hours so that she could help me pick out outfits and give me make up advice which she ended up doing my make up for me! I can’t thank her enough because my make up looks amazing!!! Thanks mom and dad for working so hard to pay for the pictures! I love you all! Ok I’ll shut up and let you look at the pictures now…

I’m done! May 16, 2008

It’s official… I’m done with my AP tests finally!!! I ended it with Microeconomics and I’m pretty sure I scored terribly on that one considering my teacher did not teach us anything until recently when the class had already given up on her. My first test, American government, went swimmingly after close to 12 hours of studying! Next came the Calculus BC exam and that was cake because I have to coolest and best teacher in the world!!! Thanks Mrs. Knipp! After that, I took the English Literature and Composition test which fried my brain doing an hours worth of reading and multiple choice along with writing 3 essays in 2 hours… I am so glad to be done!!!!!! Now I just have to wait for the official done which will come along with a car cover (AKA graduation gown) and a teal and black tassle on Thursday, May 22! Go Highland High! 

I’m definitely gonna miss all my friends but I am so done with high school…

I can’t wait for ASU in the fall! I’m majoring in Biochemistry and then I’m off to Pharmacy school

AP’s are the devil!!! May 12, 2008

I haven’t had time for anything this past week except studying for my AP tests. It sucked and I better score high so I can avoid retaking these classes in college! Stress was at an all time high even for me and sleep was at an all time low… I was more than thankful when the weekend came and I was able to send out my graduation announcements and watch the Indiana’s so as to prep for number four!!!

    

I can’t wait for it because Indiana Jones and Star Wars are tied for my top movies! Temple of Doom and Episode Three are the best in their respective series.

I finally took my senior pictures yesterday! They turned out so beautifully. I would post some but you’re just gonna have to wait to get yours in the mail along with my graduation invitations. If you really want one now let me know… maybe just maybe…

I am the biggest PROCRASTINATOR! April 25, 2008

I spent the majority of my day today working on a final project power point presentation for my online computers course. I didn’t take computers in my normally scheduled day at school which was a big mistake and then on top of that, I waited until my senior year to take it correspondance! I got all my materials and syllabus in August of 2007 and should have been done around then but no, I waited until a week after it was due to start the final!!! I called the office today to double check when it was due (I thought I had until the end of April) and I found out it was due a week ago on the 16th! That sucked! I worked on it during 1st hour (I don’t have a class that period but I still had to wake up early), went to english 2nd hour, ditched 3rd hour dance to work on it some more, worked on it for half of 4th hour, went to calculus and govt and then worked on it after school! I finished at 2:45 which allowed me to rush home and get my book that I had to return along with my course work and final project! It is all done now and even though I’m gonna lose points for it being late, I am gonna graduate!!! Yay!!!!!!
